Becoming a New Referee

To become a Soccer Referee, you must attend a class and pass a written test.

You must be at least 12 years of age to work as a Soccer Referee. (You can take the class when you are 11.)

To register for a clinic, click on this link: http://www.vadcsoccerref.com/
Click on "Clinic Search" and find a "New Referee Grade 8" class that fits your schedule.
Then go back to the home page and click on the left side of the page "Online Registration"
You must first register with the state and pay $65 on line (print your receipt). In 24 hours you will receive an email accepting your application. You can now register for a clinic. Browse and choose a New Referee Grade 8 clinic. Once again print your receipt for the class.

There is also a Grade 9 Referee option, however that grade will limited the matches that you can work. A Grade 8 Referee can work all Youth Matches, Grade 9 can not work any Travel Centers and only U-12 or younger Rec Centers. And a grade 9 can only work U-14 and younger AR assignments. If you start with Grade 9, I would recommend upgrading to Grade 8 when you are required to recertify.

If you Plan on working VSA matches at Long Park on Saturdays, please purchase a BLACK Referee shirt. Since VSA colors are Gold and Blue, a Gold Referee shirt is not desirable. Fold-A-Goal has a nice start up set for only $28.95 (Shirt, Shorts, Socks, Whistle & Cards) 1-800-542-4625
