Due to the fact that most recreational teams have a waiting list each season, VSA only allows a player to play Recreational, Travel, OR Crossover.  They may not play on more than one team.

The age chart near the bottom of the page will help you determine the correct age group for which your child should tryout.  All ages are based on the age the player is as of August 1.  If we have a large turnout for any age group, with enough talent to start an additional team, we will try to do so.

If you do not see a tryout posted for your age group below, then the normal tryouts have been completed.  Please contact travel@vsaonline.org to be put in touch with the coach for your child’s age group.

According to VSA policies, if there is more than one team in an age group, then all players must be seen by the Blue team before they can be invited to play for the Gold team.  Likewise, if there are 3 teams in an age group, all players must be seen by the Blue and Gold team before they can be invited to play for the White team.  We provide 2 opportunities (at least) for players to be seen by the first and/or second team, in case you are unable to make it to both days.  VSA does encourage players to attend as many tryout days as possible. 

In addition, we require that all new players tryout for their age appropriate team.  If for some reason you wish to tryout for an older team, then you need to discuss this with the age appropriate coach.

VSA has travel teams for almost every age group, and several groups have more than one team.  If you don’t see your age group listed on the team contact page, please check back for further information, or email travel@vsaonline.org for additional information. 

Players attending tryouts should bring a soccer ball, shin guards, cleats, and water. Please arrive 15 minutes early in order to sign in with the team’s coach.

Directions to each of the tryout venues:

• Mountain View Elementary School:  From I-66, take the Haymarket Exit for Route 15 and go North for approximately 1 mile.  Turn right on Lightner Road and go 0.25 mile to the school on the left.  Field #1 is closest to the school.
• Long Park:  From I-66, take the Haymarket Exit for Route 15 and go North for approximately 2 miles.  The park will be on your right.  For a map of the field layout at Long Park, please click here.
• Bull Run Middle School:  From I-66, take the Gainesville Exit for Route 29 South.  Take first right onto Route 55 West.  After approximately .5 miles, turn right onto Catharpin Road.  The school is 1.8 miles down on your left.  The side field is to the right of the school.  The back field is all the way behind the baseball field.  Do not use the field inside the track.
• Marstellar Middle School:  From I-66, take the Gainesville exit for Route 29 South.  Turn left onto Linton Hall Road.  Go approximately 3.8 miles.  Turn right onto Sudley Manor Drive.  The school will be on your right after about 1.1 miles.  You will use the field near the road.
• Valley View Park:  From I-66, take Rt. 234 South, Exit 44 (do not take Business 234 Exit 47A toward Manassas).  Take Rt 234 South to Rt 28 (approximately 5 miles).  Take Rt. 28 South for about 1.4 miles to Bristow Road (Rt. 619).   Turn left onto Bristow Road.  Follow Bristow Road for 1.4 miles to a right on Valley View Drive.  You will go past the golf course on the left.  Take the next right into Valley View Complex.  Follow the road to the soccer fields.
