According to VSA policies, if there is more than one team in an age group, then all players must be seen by the "A" team before they can be invited to play for the "B" team.  Likewise, if there are 3 teams in an age group, all players must be seen by the "A" and "B" team before they can be invited to play for the "C" team. 

VSA requires that all new players tryout for their age appropriate team.  If for some reason you wish to tryout for an older team, then you need to discuss this with the age appropriate coach.  Please see the Age Group Chart toward the bottom of this page to help ensure you show up for the correct tryout.

VSA has travel teams for almost every age group, and several groups have more than one team.  If you don’t see your age group listed on the team contact page, please check back for further information, or email travel@vsaonline.org for additional information. 

VSA does not require that your child attend all tryout dates, but it is highly recommended.  It is helpful for a coach to see a player more than one time.  If it is only once, and the player happened to have an "off" day, that may prevent him (or her) from earning a spot on the travel team.  If there is a "joint" tryout date listed, and your child can only attend one date, please try to make that the tryout they attend, as there will be more coaches in attendance at that tryout.

Be sure to bring water, cleats and shinguards to all tryouts.

Please see links to the left for any teams that are still looking for additional players.  If you do not see your age group listed, please go to the Contacts page to see if there is a direct link to a team official in your age group.  If not, please contact travel@vsaonline.org to be put in touch with team officials.  Not all teams are full, so please be sure to contact them if you have a desire to tryout for their team.

Please note:  The ages shown are the age they will be in the Fall 2009!! 

When determining which age group your child falls into, the easiest way is to determine how old that child will be on 8/1 of this year.  For example, if the player is 14 by 8/1/09, then she will be a U15 player.  If her actual date of birth is 8/1, then she would be in the younger age group (U14).

Directions to each of the tryout venues:

• Mountain View Elementary School:  From I-66, take the Haymarket Exit for Route 15 and go North for approximately 1 mile.  Turn right on Lightner Road and go 0.25 mile to the school on the left.  Field #1 is closest to the school.
• Long Park:  From I-66, take the Haymarket Exit for Route 15 and go North for approximately 2 miles.  The park will be on your right.  For a map of the field layout at Long Park, please click here.
• Bull Run Middle School:  From I-66, take the Gainesville Exit for Route 29 South.  Take first right onto Route 55 West.  After approximately .5 miles, turn right onto Catharpin Road.  The school is 1.8 miles down on your left.  The side field is to the right of the school.  The back field is all the way behind the baseball field.  Do not use the field inside the track.
• Marstellar Middle School:  From I-66, take the Gainesville exit for Route 29 South.  Turn left onto Linton Hall Road.  Go approximately 3.8 miles.  Turn right onto Sudley Manor Drive.  The school will be on your right after about 1.1 miles.  You will use the field near the road.
• Valley View Park:  From I-66, take Rt. 234 South, Exit 44 (do not take Business 234 Exit 47A toward Manassas).  Take Rt 234 South to Rt 28 (approximately 5 miles).  Take Rt. 28 South for about 1.4 miles to Bristow Road (Rt. 619).   Turn left onto Bristow Road.  Follow Bristow Road for 1.4 miles to a right on Valley View Drive.  You will go past the golf course on the left.  Take the next right into Valley View Complex.  Follow the road to the soccer fields.
• Battlefield HS Practice Field:  Follow the directions to Long Park.  After turning into the park, follow the main road all the way to the back of the park.  In the back, right corner of that parking lot, there is the Park Authority Maintenance shed, with a gravel road beside it.  The practice field is a short drive down the gravel road.  Please drop off player(s) and park in the parking lot.
