Hard Work Earns VSA Strong Start in NPL
Four game days into the NPL season and VSA is already seeing the fruit of high standards, hard work, and creative players. August opened up a hot preseason where preparations for the NPL began with new baseline testing in sports performance. Our NPL coaches and players focused on development, implementation of style of play and standards. Those focused weeks turned into powerful performances in the first third of the season.
The focus on injury prevention, physical make up, and soccer specific performance has led to higher quality sessions and the ability to sustain higher quality play. We had great competitive match ups with NPL clubs AUFC, CYA, & Gunston. We also welcomed VDA (US Development Academy Program) partner club PWSI in games where the scores could have gone either way.
AUFC - 11 (W) - 5 (L ) - 0 (T)
CYA - 12 (W) - 1 (L) - 1 (T)
PWSI - 7 (W) - 5 (L) - 4 (T)
Gunston - 11 (W) - 2 (L) - 1 (T)
Currently VSA has ten of their seventeen competing NPL teams in the top three of their respective age groups among the 12 NPL clubs. All teams are looking to compete for the league title and in the Virginia Cup later this fall.
