(Haymarket, VA) VSA is excited to announce our renewed and expanded partnership with club athletic trainer Kayla Ferrell. Kayla has been working with VSA as our athletic trainer since 2018. This partnership is an embodiment of innovation and will cover a number of important areas in health and safety for all of our players. Kayla will now be on the fields at Long Park on Tuesdays from 7:30-9:00 PM for injury evaluations, and on Sundays for NCSL and ECNL RL games at Long Park.
“We are excited for Kayla to be expanding her role at VSA for the 2021-22 season. She has been a tremendous asset to the club and provides the club with expertise to develop our health and safety priorities. Kayla is a great person and her energy will continue to add to the club culture and objectives” Matt Lacey, Executive Director.
Our players' health and safety is a top priority and by continuing to invest in having an athletic trainer, specifically, Kayla more involved we will be doing just that. Kayla brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to us. She has completed numerous certifications and continuing education courses including: the FIFA medical diploma, EXOS Performance Specialist, Functional Movement Screen, Y Balance Test, Selective Functional Movement Assessment, Certified Tennis Performance Specialist, Precision Nutrition, ACE certified personal trainer, TRX, dry needling, kinesiotaping, and blood flow restriction training. She is also certified in CPR through the American Heart Association.
Kayla had this to say, “I am excited to be partnering with VSA and their mission of fostering young athletes and helping to ensure their athletic goals are achieved safely. VSA is a regional leader in youth athletics, and I am honored to be able to use my skills and experience to help these young athletes reach their full potential.”
One of the newer aspects of our partnership is to collaborate to establish and implement VSA’s Emergency Action Plan. By effectively working together, our administration and technical staff along with Kayla will improve our processes and responses to emergency situations. She will also serve as the Head Athletic Trainer for our Cannon Cup tournament. Establishing her as the point of contact for all of the athletic trainers at the event gives us the opportunity to provide the best medical care for the participants. This is only the beginning, we will continue to work together to find more ways to enhance player health and safety at VSA.
Kayla is a board certified Sports Clinical Specialist through the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties and is sitting to become an Orthopaedic Clinical Specialist in 2022.
When not at the fields you can catch Kayla in the clinic at Results Physical Therapy in Gainesville performing physical therapy and personal training services. Kayla can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org.
